About Me
Hi, My name is Gwen and I am a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Edinburgh.
I work with people who are finding themselves frustrated or confused. Who struggle with anxiety, low self-confidence or notice patterns of behaviour that leave them feeling stuck and disconnected from people in their lives and the world around them.
I take a trauma-informed approach to my practice, encouraging safety as well as curiosity. I believe that lasting change comes through meeting ourselves with compassion and creating new space for growth.
Professional Experience
I trained and gained my professional qualification in the University of Edinburgh.
Both during and after my training, I have worked with a diverse client group bringing a broad range of personal challenges. Some of these challenges include relationship issues, attachment styles, identity, sexuality and anxiety. Working with clients of all genders aged sixteen and above.
I learned the importance of a trauma-informed approach through my experience at a local crisis centre. Working with survivors of sexual assault, abuse and gender-based violence. This experience has deepened my understanding of how trauma can shape a person’s relationship with their body, their sense of safety, trust and connection with themselves and with others.
I work with people whose bodies may have learned to feel unsafe, helping them to gently reconnect and develop a greater sense of security in self again.
